What do new mothers need to return to the labor market? The International Labor Organization is emphatic: be certain that your job will be waiting for you when you return from leave. Guaranteed benefits during pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and child rearing are some important elements to strengthen equal access to employment.
In Latin America, according to the Development Bank of Latin America, “on average, while 95% of adult men (25 to 54 years old) work or actively seek employment, that proportion drops to 66% in the case of women”, which does not mean that women do not work, they do so in the home without remuneration. Achieving gender equality in the workplace is important in order to favor the allocation of the region’s human resources to boost productivity growth.

Two collaborators shared their challenges and achievements as new mothers, know their answers.

What changes did motherhood bring about in your life? She changed everything in our lives, our Toula came to increase our happiness and made our lives even more joyful. She came to complete our home. Everything is running, being on time for social gatherings or any activity is complicated for me, we carry half the house in the car, but everything that comes with motherhood is accepted with love.
How do you balance motherhood with work? With discipline, since I fulfill my work responsibilities and when I take my active breaks I take the opportunity to share with my daughter, enjoying every lunch, since many mothers would like to have this benefit of sharing with their children during working hours; Toula has different activities during the day to let mommy work.
Why did you decide to stay working at Conecta? I decided to stay because I like the work I do, I really like the business line of the company and if we talk about the benefits of being a mom I think the most important is the hybrid work, the days I work from home at the end of the day I just spend time with my family, taking advantage of the fact that I do not have to deal with traffic.

What changes did motherhood bring about in your life? Motherhood completely changed my life; it is a challenge to reconcile personal life with work life. One of the biggest challenges is organizing work and having quality time with my daughter.
How do you balance motherhood with work? To balance motherhood and work I rely on the support of my family in caring for my daughter, while organizing my hybrid work time. I take active breaks and devote quality time to it after work hours are over.
Why did you decide to stay working at Conecta? The decision to continue working comes from the desire to continue improving myself, the desire to be an example for my daughter of effort and struggle, so that this example allows her to recognize that every effort has its reward. I want him to have opportunities to develop in education, sports, among others.
