A step forward for power transmission: Conecta starts operation of Guate Oeste Substation

Conecta, recognized as one of the leading power transmission companies in Guatemala, has reached an important milestone with the entry into commercial operation of the 195MVA Guate Oeste 230/69kV substation. This project is a significant step forward in strengthening the national electrical infrastructure, increasing the reliability and capacity of the grid to meet the country’s growing energy demand.

The project included the construction of a double-circuit 230kV transmission line, with an extension of 12.35 kilometers, connecting the Guate Oeste substation with the Las Cruces substation. The 195MVA capacity of this new infrastructure allows optimizing the interaction between the transmission and sub-transmission networks, ensuring a more stable and reliable electricity supply for several communities.

With the addition of this substation, Conecta now has a total of 710 kilometers of transmission lines and 28 substations in commercial operation, consolidating its position as a reference in electricity transmission in Guatemala. This achievement is the result of a joint effort of its multidisciplinary team, which successfully overcame various technical and regulatory challenges, always maintaining a focus on operational excellence.

The entry into operation of the Guate Oeste substation not only strengthens the country’s electrical infrastructure, but also boosts Guatemala’s economic and social progress, contributing to its sustainable development. This progress is aligned with Conecta’s mission to generate a positive impact on communities through strategic projects that promote stability and growth. With this new achievement, Conecta reaffirms its commitment to transform energy into opportunities, consolidating its role as a key player in building a more sustainable and prosperous future for Guatemala.
