La Vega II Substation

The expansion of the La Vega II Substation was carried out as a self-initiated project aimed at increasing the operational capacity of the transmission system. This project enabled the activation of the second circuit of the Aguacapa–La Vega II transmission line, enhancing service reliability and reducing potential bottlenecks in energy flow. The expansion reinforces a key part of the National Interconnected System (SNI), improving the stability and continuity of electricity supply in the region. Status: In commercial operation since 2019.

A milestone in the electricity market

The commercial operation commissioning of this project set a milestone in the Guatemalan Electricity Market since the transport works have provided the transmission service to users in Guatemala and the rest of the Central American countries.

It benefits the Guatemalan population that lives in the center and southwest of the country.
It provides greater energy transport reliability, stability, and capacity from generators to the highest energy consumption centers at the national level.

Multi-stage Reactive Compensation Equipment

These systems were identified as part of the effort to expand electric transmission capacity, with the goal of mitigating network constraints and providing greater operational flexibility to the Wholesale Market Administrator (AMM). Their integration directly contributes to enhancing the efficiency and stability of the national power system.
Status: In commercial operation since 2022.

Su incorporación contribuye directamente a mejorar la eficiencia y estabilidad del sistema eléctrico nacional.
